As well as walking to Caringbah Library for National Simultaneous Story time, when the book is read in libraries, schools, preschools and community events around Australia at the same time on the same day, we held a I Got This Hat day at Jacaranda the followingweek.

Lots of children and parents wore their hat and had a story to tell.

National Simultaneous Story Time on May 25, is an annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books.

By facilitating National Simultaneious Storytime, the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), aim to:

  • “promote the value of reading and literacy
  • promote the value of fun of books
  • promote and Australian writer and publisher
  • promote storytime activities in public libraries and communities around the country
  • provide opportunities to involve parents, grandparents, the media and others to participate in and ejoy the occasion.”

Through events such as this, we continue to builds relationships and engages with our local community. Curriculum decision making contributes to each child’s learning and development outcomes in relation to their identity, connection with community, wellbeing, confidence as learners and effectiveness as communicators.
